Frequently asked questions

Where does this bank branch data come from?

It comes from the FDIC BankFind Suite, which the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation publishes for FDIC-insured institutions. Branches open, close and move, so the list can lag behind reality.

Does this list include credit unions?

No. Credit unions are insured by the NCUA rather than the FDIC and are not part of this dataset. We may add them later.

Why are there no phone numbers?

The FDIC data does not include phone numbers. To reach a branch, use the contact details on the bank’s official website or the number printed on your card or statement.

How do I know a bank is legitimate?

Search for the bank in the FDIC’s BankFind tool by name and confirm its certificate number. Only use links and phone numbers you have checked on the bank’s official site.
